HUW LLOYD-LANGTON GROUP LONDON SHEPHERD’S BUSH EMPIRE 10TH DECEMBER, 2011
REVIEW BY TIM JONES - RECORD COLLECTOR FEBRUARY 2012 ISSUE
View: first circle, centre
Supporting Hawkwind, who put in their usual two-hour mind-swirling show, Huw - LLG knocked out half a dozen numbers from the daze when Huw led the axemen of the good spaceship, and proved to be on fine form, both on six strings, and in his asides between songs.
Fronting a quartet including key wizard Gonzalo Carrera (ex-Karnataka), they opened with the colossal Waiting For Tomorrow, with its trippy interludes, before the David Gilmour-esque stomp of Hard Graft, with Huw’s fine fretting to the fore. The instrumental, Rush-like roust of Space Chase had the masses in thrall, and the uptempo Moonglum led into a closing tour de force down Rocky Paths, with sweet slide guitar work and complementary key jabs rounding out an impressive knock.
