SHE CAME WITH FRUIT AND FLOWERS

Recorded on LLG’s “TIME SPACE & LLG” LP

She came with fruit and flowers

With a twinkle in her eyes,

She said she was glad to see me,

Truly glad that I'd survived,

She does not read the papers,

She does not watch the news,

If she listens to any broadcast

She really gets confused.

A spoonful of injustice

An ounce of stolen jam,

A pound of pain keeps you going

As it grinds you down

Oh! but it's good to know what's happening

Just take your medicine,

No need to worry about a home,

There are always streets or slums,

As she left, she kissed my cheek,

And told me to keep on smiling

This is just another stepping stone

To the land we can rely on.
