HUW (LLG) AT ELDER STUBBS FESTIVAL OXFORD 21ST AUGUST 2010GIG AT BANUS CLUB IN WEYMOUTH 2ND APRIL 2010

2nd May 2010 Huw solo and Huw' & LLG are performing at Hawkwind's all dayer at The Leamington Spa Assembly - full line up of the day featured on Hawkwind's web site

Saturday 22nd August, 2009. Huw played the Restore & Elders Stubbs Charity Festival in Oxford again this year. This was the 12th Year Huw has played for them! He has become their mascot!

16th Dec 2008. Huw  supported Hawkwind at the Astoria, London.

27th July 2008 - Huw played at Hawkfest, both with acoustic and electric guitars.

20th October 2007 - Space Rock Spectacular, Near Oxford, web site here. The Assassins of Silence organised this and Hawkwind regular Harvey Bainbridge and Bridget Wishart both played as well. Huw joined Xoo for their first gig, playing Moonglum and then took part in a rather horrible and 'unplanned' set with the other ex-Hawks and the Assassins. Things weren't helped by the main sound engineer for the evening being the Assassin's Dave, who obviously was on stage playing and helpless to intervene in the aural mess.... Ah well. Xoo were great, as were Underground Zero, both played a blinder.....

Sunday, 9th September 2007 - Lloyd Langton Group headlined the: WATLING FESTIVAL, at Montrose Park Watling Avenue Burnt Oak London NW9. LLG were on stage at 9pm and played for 45 mins (limited by curfews...!) The line up was HUW LLOYD-LANGTON, VOLKER VON HOFF (DRUMS) and RICHARD GILLESPIE (BASS)

18th August 2007 - Elder Stubbs Charity Festival (afternoon) again (the Assassins of Silence were there again too, with their new line-up)

November 5th: Huw played an acoustic set at Jamm (261 Brixton Road, London SW9 6LH.

There was (it ran from Spring to 10th September) a Rock'n'Roll exhibition at The Church Farmhouse Museum, Greyhound Hill, Hendon, NW4 4JR, tel: 020 8203 0130. Exhibits going back more than 30 years including guitars, a recording desk (actually the full rig Huw recorded 'Chain Reaction' on). Items donated from Arbiter, BBC all sorts and a part of exhibition features Huw with Huw's very own favourite guitar his 25th Anniversay Les Paul (nicknamed Lizzie) plus posters (Widowmaker and Hawkwind) donated for the period exhibition runs (see photo below). BBC TV featured the Exhibition naming Huw and showing 'Lizzie' recently. Here are a couple of pages from the London Bulletin about the exhibition (page 1page 2)

January 2010: Huw's new CD is nearly ready and he and Marion are pleased to make a sampler MP3 available here, LLG-Hard-Graft-sampler.mp3 (3MB, 2 mins 30 secs long), which will give you an idea of what to expect. The tracks sampled here are "Hard Graft", "Hello Friend" and "The Dream".

Huw with Hawkwind

Unearthed from 1988 is this desk recording of Huw performing his own track "Moonglum" (8.5MB) with Hawkwind, along with some tasty eBow work from the trailing/solo end of "Wastelands of Sleep".

MoonGlum

Unearthed from 1985 is this desk recording of Huw performing an unreleased (with Hawkwind) number of his own with the band: "Got Your Number", 3.5MB.

Got Your Number

jawa

Jawa
The time is 1978. Huw formed a trio with Simon King [Hawkwind] and Nik Potter [Van der Graaf Generator]. The trio was named Jawa and didn't last long as both Simon and Huw rejoined Hawkwind for their 1979 tour (Huw was to stay in the band for a decade, Simon only a year longer)

Jawa was never thought to have recorded anything (other than the well-known backing of Steve Swindells on his solo album, Fresh Blood - samples here), but we've unearthed a five-track demo tape that's never been heard before. By anyone. And there are some new tracks, notably the outstanding Heart of Stone. Huw's guitar playing is incandescent in his many solos, Simon is as fluid as ever and this may be the first time many of you will have heard Nik.

And now you can download the tracks in the popular MP3 format, below. The audio isn't quite of commercial CD quality, but then remember a) these were demo tracks, b) this was 1978 and c) the music's been on audio cassette for the last 25 years! The sound is still very clear and the music's terrific. The highlight for me is the last minute of Heart of Stone - incredible playing from all three musicians. See what you think!

Downloading/payment

Rather than distributing Jawa's music on CDR or tape, we (Huw and Marion) have decided to put all the Jawa tracks up for you to download, right now. There's no enforced charge for doing so, but we would suggest that you make a donation to Huw using PayPal (or by post, if you prefer) as a thankyou. As you know, Huw is a professional musician and has played gigs for you even when poorly (even once, famously, with a broken arm!), so why not say thank you, if you like the tracks?

While the tracks are downloading, why not use the  make a donation to Huw via Pay Pal? Thank you very much.

UPDATE:  SEPT 2012  - New Higher Quality recordings have been unearthed and will be available soon stay tuned!
